私モテについて / About Watamote

Tanigawa Nico: “I guess there won’t be a season 2, probably.”

Tanigawa Nico: “I guess there won’t be a season 2.”

Tanigawa Nico: “I don’t check my work on Gangan Online every time, so I’m usually unaware of my errors in lines or corrections by the editor. But when I read it this time, the line ‘Pig anime (aka Moe shit) are broadcast in Kyoto, too?” had been changed to ‘Anime are broadcast in Kyoto, too?”

@shintama: “Isn’t it a big problem that an editor changes lines without an author’s permission?”

Tanigawa Nico: “Our editor basically does it without our permission. I don’t mind it. But I wonder about other mangakas’ cases.”

Tanigawa Nico: “In another manga published by Square-Enix, the name ‘DraQue (aka Dragon Warrior, RPG by Square-Enix)’ was changed to ‘Dra○e’. I was surprised that we couldn’t use even the name.”

Tanigawa Nico: “I had thought that the school trip arc would end around 3 chapters. I don’t know why, but it happened to be long. I’d like to draw Yuu-chan not only on the cover art but also on the manga after Tomoko is back.”

Tanigawa Nico: “Thank you. If it had not been popular on 4chan and so on, needless to say about the anime, this manga possibly would have ended by now.”

@noruto_tw: “The name of Tomoko’s school seems like a composition of names of my old school and its neighbor school. I went to Shuei High.”

Tanigawa Nico: “I picked their name meaninglessly, just because they are near my home. I think I will change the name because it’s too long.”

登場人物について / About Characters

@ponta_solo: “I’m just wondering, when is Tomoko’s birthday?”

Tanigawa Nico: “I had a feeling that we decided the date, but I forgot it. It’s around the end of Feburary.”

@creamiyabi93: “Do you think that you will disclose the birthdays of the main characters of Watamote? I feel impatient that we cannot celebrate them.”

Tanigawa Nico: “I’ve decided approximate dates, but haven’t decided exact dates yet. I may disclose them some day in the future.”

TN: We already know that Yuu-chan’s birthday is March third from Tomomote chapter 2, and Tomoko’s birthday is about a week before Yuu-chan’s birthday from Watamote chapter 36.

@usacono33: “Tanigawa-sensei, hello! I’ve read the official fan book, but there is not the date of Tomoko’s birthday. Would you please tell me the date of her birthday?”

Tanigawa Nico: “It is around the end of February. But we have not decided the exact date yet due to various reasons.”

@Judas0524: “Good Mourning. I have a question about Tomoko’s birthday. According to the manga, I think it is in mid-March. Have you decided the exact date?”

Tanigawa Nico: “We have already decided. However we didn’t announce the date in order to avoid the contradiction between Tomoko’s and Yuu’s birthday.”

@D_Wilderness: “[…] I have a question that I want to ask you at any cost. Does Tomoko wear bras under her tank top?”

Tanigawa Nico: “I think she wears only her tank top. But I’m not sure because I’ve not talk about her bras with the artist.”

@Phoenix_ya: “Tomoko has a younger brother and Kii-chan, a three-year younger cousin on the maternal side. Does she have any older cousin?”

Tanigawa Nico: “I’m not sure about that. (dodging the subject)”

@Postola_cream: “What does Tomoko smell like?”

Tanigawa Nico: “I don’t know.”

Tanigawa Nico: “About 145-150cm.”

@kin_me: “If Tomoko graduate from high school, I wanna read Tomoko’s university and office life…”

Tanigawa Nico : “At first, I don’t know if she can become a office worker.”

Tanigawa Nico: “I translated your question with translation service, so I don’t know whether this is the answer, though. I think she will learn little by little in the days to come.”

@MoricomKi: “I bought the Vol.3 and Vol.4. Yuu has become an adult…, right?”

Tanigawa Nico: “I think there must be a possibility that she hasn’t become an adult yet.”

@mojo0720: “Hi! I love Watamote! What is Tomoko’s height and weight?”

Tanigawa Nico: “I’ve not set them precisely yet. They say some mangaka set even BWH, too. But I’ve never set those yet.”

@MottoR26: “I will nurse Tomoko, so please tell me her address.”

Tanigawa Nico: “She lives somewhere in Makuhari.”

谷川ニコ先生ご自身について / About Themselves

Tanigawa Nico: “I play everything except for online games. Now I’d like to play Resident Evil or Dragon Warrior VII that Square-Enix gave me. I don’t have Nintendo 3DS, though.”

@yoshinasu1118 “Sorry I’m late, but I’ve read the second volume of Number Girl. It was surreal but easy to understand, and I was absorbed in it. Especially, the chapters chestnuts hit the girl were very funny. By the way, what is your favorite thing to do?”

Tanigawa Nico: “I love playing video games. But I’ve not played since I became a manga artist, because I don’t have time. If I quit the job and had lots of money, I’d like to play games about 10 hours a day everyday.”

Tanigawa Nico: “I guess it’s painful either you go to a school-trip or not when you cannot make a group. I spent free time by myself when I was a middle schooler.”

@mikaako21: “I’m Usagi, a first year junior-high schooler. My mother loves Watamote and I became a fan, too!! My favorite character is Tomoko. Please do your best!”

Tanigawa Nico: “Thank you very much. I myself don’t have my mother read my books.”

@8mevius: “And you are husband and wife, right? Please do your best.”

Tanigawa Nico: “Although we are not husband and wife, we’ll do our best.”

@guruman_: “Hello! I always enjoy reading Watamote! By the way, I have a question. What kind of school days did you spend?”

Tanigawa Nico: “I wouldn’t feel anything at all if 80% of my classmates in my first year of high-school died. There were some people in my second and third year class who were kind to me. I spent that kind of high-school days.”

@gatotyu2: “Tanigawa sensei, are you a fan of Chiba Lotte Marines? Because almost all names of characters come from players of Marines.”

Tanigawa Nico: “Although I don’t know if I can say ‘I’m a fan’, I usually watch Marines games when they are broadcast on satellite or NicoNico Douga Live. I quit watching when they have fallen 5 runs behind, though.”

@KouKouuKaru: “What were you doing in your school days?”

Tanigawa Nico: “I spent my first year all by myself. From the latter half of the second year to the third year, I kept playing mah-jong and games.”

Tanigawa Nico: “Is it sung by many people!?”

One of them was late 20s in 2011.

Tanigawa Nico: “I want to draw a pretty boy. It’s difficult to do it in Watamote, though.”

@Phoenix_ya: “Since she seems having academic ability, I think she will enter a famous university. But I cannot imagine what kind of job she will choose and what kind of person she will marry.”

Tanigawa Nico : “I also cannot imagine at this time.”

@bouninngenn450: “Tanigawa Nico is a duo, right? Which person is doing twitter mainly? …”

Tanigawa Nico: “Both of us tweet in one’s free time. We don’t state which of us is tweeting. There is no specific reason though.”

@airitanmax: “Please tell me your love experience.”

Tanigawa Nico: “Nothing.”

@0301555 says, “Do you both have communication disorders?”

Tanigawa Nico: “The artist has some communication problems, and the author looks earnest but has failed as a man.”

Tanigawa Nico: “I read it (translated 4chan /a/ logs about watamote) yesterday. I’m glad that they still remember me (or watamote).”

Tanigawa Nico: “I’m Tanigawa Nico. I can read English somehow, but I cannot speak well.”

@negami0914: “It’s been a while since I saw such a cute older sister last time. She is comparable even to Wandering Son and Furou Kyoudai. It’s compelling. Do you have a older sister or a younger brother for real?”

Tanigawa Nico: “Is she cute? The artist has two older sisters and the writer has one older brother.”

@20201011arai: “I guess it’s hard to meet deadlines, but please do your best. I’m wondering if the writer is tall.”

Tanigawa Nico: “Both the writer and the artist are 165-169 centimeters tall.”

Some Japanese fans say Komiyama is shocked because a star player of Chiba Lotte Marines has been doing adultery.

Tanigawa Nico: “We wish you a Happy New Year.” “We would be grateful if you could support us again this year.”

TN: “今年もよろしくお願いします / Kotoshi mo yoroshiku onegai shimasu” is one of the common greetings for new year.

This girl is Serika Akai, the heroine of Choku!, Tanigawa Nico’s previous work.
